Analysis of the match between Burgos Club de Fútbol and Valencia
In the third round of this season’s Copa del Rey, Burgos produced a remarkable comeback by defeating Getafe 3-1 at home. That victory allowed the club to equal their best-ever achievement in the competition, reaching the round of 16 for only the second time in history. The previous occasion dates back more than half a century, in the 1972/73 season.
Despite that success, Burgos remain a fairly modest side competing in Spain’s second division. Compared to them, Valencia boast far greater pedigree and history. The club known as “Los Che” have lifted the Copa del Rey eight times and claimed six La Liga titles.
At present, Valencia are struggling in La Liga, sitting 17th in the standings. However, they are just one point away from the safety zone and have suffered only two defeats in their last ten matches. Even though they are still searching for consistency and must play away from home, Valencia’s superior quality should be enough to halt Burgos’ progress.
