Analysis of the match between Genoa and Cagliari
In the most recent round, Genoa painfully let victory slip away while playing away at AC Milan. The red-and-blue side held onto their lead until the 91st minute, before Rafael Leão struck to level the score at 1-1 for the hosts. Even more frustrating, in the eighth minute of stoppage time, Genoa were awarded a penalty that could have restored their advantage. However, Nicolae Stanciu failed to convert, extending Genoa’s winless run to five matches.
Collecting just two points from those five games has left Genoa stuck near the bottom of the table, only above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Cagliari, despite their inconsistency, have managed to secure two wins in their last six league matches. As a result, they currently sit three places above Genoa, leading by the equivalent of one win in points (19 compared to 16).
Looking at the head-to-head record, Cagliari have no reason to fear Genoa, as the last seven meetings between the two sides have been evenly balanced, with one win each and five draws. Although playing away from home poses some disadvantage, Cagliari can still be confident given Genoa’s poor home form. Statistics show that Genoa have won just one of their last 13 Serie A matches at the Luigi Ferraris, making it unlikely that Cagliari will leave empty-handed.
